No Time to Train

by James Stoxen, D.C.

Too busy to train? You've got a problem. This articles will hepl you reduce the number of situations where you throw up your hand and exclaim, "I don't have time." We'll go into the ABC method of scheduling sports training and I'll pass on some ups on how your can rethink your planned strategy

GOALS
The first step in reorganizing your time for better training is to establish your training goals. Goals give your training direction. If you are participating in a major competition your goals are simplified but they are not simple by any means. When I discuss goals. I'm looking at daily, weekly and cyclically oriented objectives as well as lifetime goals. To clarify your goals, write them down and put them up on the wall. It's much harder to lose sight of them (no pun intended).

Written goals must fit several criteria. First, they must be measurable, such as adding 25 pounds of solid muscle mass, improving sprint speed by a half second, increasing vertical jump height by a half inch, etc. Such goals could be viewed as separate objectives or preliminary objectives to a bigger goal, such as making the Olympic Track Team or winning the Heisman Trophy. Goals must also be realistic based on your physical abilities. These goals give you direction by which you can orient your sport specific and cross-training activities.

Remember I you do not have direction you will just be training to get somewhere and if you train long enough, you will get somewhere, but that probably won't be where you want to be.
