02/12/2006 - ‘Macho’ Miguel Hernandez Talks about Winning the WBC USA Middleweight Title! By Juan C. Ayllon
I should have been able to throw a lot of punches, because I was in good shape. I wasn’t tired. After the fight, the announcer told me, he got in the ring, he said, ‘Man, I don’t know what you did, but you conditioning was awesome!’ That meant a lot. And I want to thank Team Doctors—Dr. Stoxen—for all his help, for the strength training.

JA: I understand you’re training with Dr. Stoxen again on abs. Tell me about that.
MH: I’m back doing ab work and my legs with Dr. Stoxen. He’s got me doing I do a lot of exercises for my feet. He would probably be able to describe what I do better. It’s more for balance. It makes you work muscles in your legs that you don’t work out. He’s one of the guys that’s out there willing to help, and that means a lot to me.

11/12/2005 Archived Entry: Rudy Cisneros’ fists blazed with frightening power and accuracy as he dispatched hapless Moises Martinez.
Dr. Stoxen, who trains Cisneros with special core and weight machine abdominal work, said afterwards,“He’s not missed a session. He’s been hitting the rotary exercises with some of the same weights that our heavyweights were using! That’s why he was hitting it so hard.”

Andrei Arlovski
Profile of a Champion
By Jim Genia
Featured in AXL Magazine Volume I, November 5, 2005
For the man who’s ended more than a few bouts with his fists, being the champ also requires a physician. Rounding out Arlovski’s training team is Dr. James Stoxen DC. With the Pit Bull repeatedly fracturing his hands scoring knockouts, (against the skulls of sluggers Ian Freeman and Wesley ‘Cabbage’ Correira), the doctor has proven invaluable in patching him up.
One look at Arlovki’s chiseled form at fight time and it’s not hard to imagine the strictness of his diet. To keep his body fat low, Dr. Stoxen also plays an active role, ensuring the Belarussian eats no dairy, bread or sugar as a bout approaches. Coupled with complex carbohydrates after training and protein before bed, and Arlovski is one lean, mean fighting machine once the door to the Octagon Is shut.

By Juan C. Ayllon
Editor’s note: Sports trainer and chiropractor, Dr. Stoxen, who has advised and worked with Diaz on matters of diet, exercise and training injuries, said that the typical Puerto Rican and Mexican diets are notorious for featuring rice, beans, corn tortillas and Coca-Cola, which are high glycemic index carbohydrates, and in turn increase insulin levels and decrease growth hormone, thus creating potential weight problems and weakening the body.]

By Robert Hoffman
When Miguel started fighting in the amateurs he was almost 220lbs. Miguel quickly realized that he was much shorter than the other heavyweight fighters. Hel dropped down to Light Heavyweight for a few amatuer fights. Incredible work through both Sam Colonna, and Dr. James Stoxen of Team Doctors brought Miguel down safely to his fighting weight of 160lbs. "I am now at Middleweight and I plan to drop down to Jr. Middleweight for my next couple of fights" says Hernandez, who is coming off an impressive decision win against tough punching veteran Luis Lopez just a few weeks ago.

QUOTE FROM DAVID DIAZ
1996 OLYMPIAN AND TOP PROFERSSIONAL BOXER
“He has developed my strength, he has taught me how to use weights—what can I say more about him, my strength has actually increased since I have been working with him, and I’m actually hitting a lot harder and feel a lot more powerful and I’m actually a little faster than I was before. I wasn’t in this kind of shape in the Olympics”
